A financial website has one job before anything else: make a stranger comfortable enough to get in touch. Whether you are an independent adviser, an insurance broker, a lender, an accountant or a trading-information publisher, the theme you choose sets the tone for that first impression and decides how easy it is to publish the pages a regulated business needs.
This list covers themes that are actively maintained for current WordPress and PHP, work with the block editor, and give you the pages a financial site typically requires: services, team, testimonials, contact and a blog. Our own themes come first and we say so; the well-known free alternatives that follow are listed without affiliation.

What a financial site needs from its theme
- Trust signals near the top. Space for credentials, regulatory numbers, accreditations and a clear phone number in the header or a top bar.
- Service pages that scan well. Card or column layouts for mortgages, pensions, cover types or account tiers.
- Forms that are easy to style. Quote requests and callbacks are the main conversion, so the theme should not fight your form plugin.
- Speed and stability. No bundled sliders or page builders you cannot switch off; fewer moving parts means fewer updates that break the site.
- A footer with room for disclaimers. Risk warnings and legal text need a proper widget or block area, not an afterthought.
Our themes (Canyon Themes)
Full disclosure: the first five themes are ours. The free versions are reviewed by the wordpress.org theme team and we maintain them for current WordPress and PHP. We list them first because this is our site; judge them against the alternatives that follow.
1. Insurance Hub
Insurance Hub is built for brokers, agencies and financial advisers. The homepage is organised around a hero area with a call to action, a services section for cover types or advice areas, a team section and testimonials. Customizer controls handle colours, typography, header layout and the footer, and there is a top bar for a phone number and opening hours. Classic theme; content is edited in the block editor.
2. Insurance Hub Pro
The pro version adds more homepage sections, additional header and footer layouts, extra typography and colour controls and priority support. It suits firms that want a more distinctive look without hiring a designer, or that need several landing pages for different products.
3. Business Way
Business Way is a general corporate theme that works well for accountancy practices, bookkeepers and small consultancies. It is more restrained than Insurance Hub, with a clean services grid, an about section and a blog list that keeps articles readable. A pro version adds layout options and support.
4. Capacious
Capacious is a multipurpose business theme with a wider, more spacious layout that suits firms presenting a handful of services with supporting copy. It handles a mixed site (services plus a substantial blog) comfortably, and the pro version extends the homepage sections and design controls.
5. Sparker
Sparker is our lightweight multipurpose theme. If your financial site is mostly a blog or information resource, for example a personal-finance or trading-education publication such as forexinformatie.com, Sparker keeps the reading experience simple and fast while still giving you a homepage with a featured area and services. Sparker Pro adds header and footer layouts and typography controls.
Well-known free themes from WordPress.org
None of these is finance-specific, but each is widely used, well maintained and flexible enough to build a professional financial site with the block editor and a form plugin.
6. Astra
Astra’s free version includes a library of importable starter sites, several of them designed for consultants, advisers and agencies. Customizer controls cover header layouts, a top bar for contact details, typography and colours. The pro add-on expands layout options.
7. Kadence
Kadence offers a drag-and-drop header and footer builder in the free version, which makes it easy to place a phone number, a quote button and regulatory text exactly where you want them. Global colours and fonts flow through to the block editor.
8. GeneratePress
GeneratePress is deliberately minimal and very light. It is a good base if you have a designer or are comfortable building pages with core blocks and want nothing in the way. The premium add-on unlocks the site library and layout modules.

9. Neve
Neve is mobile-first with a small front-end footprint. The free version has header and footer builders and a set of starter sites including business and consultancy designs. Useful if most of your enquiries arrive from phones.
10. Blocksy
Blocksy has a polished Customizer with live-preview header and footer builders and detailed control over post and page layouts. It offers more design options out of the box than GeneratePress while remaining fast in practice.
11. OceanWP
OceanWP is a multipurpose theme with mature WooCommerce styling, which matters if you sell courses, reports or subscriptions alongside advice. Its free Customizer options cover most layout decisions a small firm will need.
Compliance, disclaimers and calculators
Older lists in this space leaned on themes with built-in loan or EMI calculators. We would now recommend the opposite: keep calculators, quote tools and comparison tables in a dedicated plugin so that they survive a theme change and can be updated independently. Regulatory text belongs in a footer block or widget area that every theme above provides. If you operate in a regulated market, check what your regulator expects to appear on every page before you finalise the header and footer design.
Which Canyon theme fits
Brokers, agencies and advisers: start with Insurance Hub. Accountants and consultancies: Business Way or Capacious. Finance blogs and information sites: Sparker. Each has a live demo on its download page, and the pro versions add layouts and support once the free tier is no longer enough.
