Canyon Themes is a small team of WordPress developers. We build light, easy-to-use themes for blogs, magazines, businesses, clinics and construction firms, and we release free versions of nearly all of them through wordpress.org. This page used to be a list of third-party websites running our themes. Sites change hands, change themes and go offline, and we cannot verify each one on every visit, so we have replaced the list with something more useful: how to recognise a Canyon theme in the wild, what a well-built site on each theme looks like, and how to get your own site featured.

How to tell which theme a WordPress site is using
You do not need a tool. Open the page, view the source (right-click, “View Page Source” in any desktop browser) and search for wp-content/themes/. The folder name that follows is the theme slug: bloge, sparker, glowmag, danfe, business-way, better-health and so on. If you see a slug you do not recognise alongside one you do, the site is probably running a child theme on top of ours, which is exactly how we recommend customising.
You can also open /wp-content/themes/{slug}/style.css directly on most hosts; the header block at the top names the theme, the author and the version. Browser extensions and “what theme is that” websites automate the same lookup, but they can be fooled by caching plugins that combine stylesheets, so the source view is more reliable.
Signs of a well-built Canyon theme site
Our themes are deliberately simple, so the difference between an average site and a good one is mostly down to how the owner has used them. These are the things we look for.
- A child theme for customisations. Colour and layout tweaks live in a child theme or the Customizer’s additional CSS, not in the parent theme’s files, so updates do not overwrite them.
- Images sized for the layout. Featured images match the theme’s recommended dimensions and are compressed before upload. Nothing kills a Danfe or GlowMag homepage faster than 5 MB photographs.
- Homepage sections used with intent. Sections the owner does not need are turned off rather than filled with placeholder text.
- A real menu and a real footer. Navigation limited to what visitors use; footer widgets carrying contact details, a short about text or recent posts rather than defaults.
- Current versions. Theme, WordPress and PHP kept up to date. We release updates for current WordPress and PHP; they only help if they are installed.
- Content in core blocks. Posts and pages built with the block editor, not theme-specific shortcodes, so the content would survive any future redesign.
What “good” looks like, theme by theme
Bloge: tech blogs, niche blogs, personal writing
The best Bloge sites we have seen are tidy and text-led: a front page that lists the latest posts, categories that are easy to move between and no distractions around the article. A tech news blog or a specialist hobby blog (dogs, cycling, nutrition) suits it well. Sparker: clubs, small companies, professional sites
Sparker has been used for anything from a cycling club with a couple of featured pages and an article feed to a tightly designed corporate site. The good ones share a pattern: a strong featured area, three or four clearly named services or sections, and a contact route that is obvious on every page. Download Sparker or see Sparker Pro.
GlowMag and News One: magazines and news
Magazine themes reward discipline. Well-built GlowMag and News One sites assign a category to every homepage section, keep featured images consistent in size and crop, and place advertising in the designated widget areas rather than inside post content. Danfe: visual blogs
Danfe sites look best when every post has a featured image of similar proportions and the grid archive is left to do its job. Travel, food and photography blogs are the natural fit. Download Danfe.

Our sector themes ship with homepage sections that match what a clinic, broker, builder or consultancy needs. The well-built examples fill those sections with real information (actual services, named staff, genuine testimonials) and keep the phone number visible. Custom builds based on our themes
Some of the sites we have worked on do not run a standard Canyon theme at all; they run a customised theme we built on top of one of ours, with extra widgets or templates the client needed. Earlier versions of this page featured several such builds, including the review sites Onlinegamblingguru.com, Gokkastengids.com and Freespinsnodepositnowager.com, which shared a custom theme with widgets for embedding games and shortened affiliate links. We have not re-audited those sites for this update, so we make no claim about what they run today; they are mentioned as examples of the kind of work involved. Our showcase criteria
We are rebuilding the showcase from submissions rather than from our own memory, and we will only feature sites we have checked. To be listed, a site should:
- Run a current version of a Canyon theme (free or pro), or a child theme of one.
- Be live, publicly accessible and served over HTTPS.
- Contain real, original content: no placeholder text, no scraped articles.
- Pass a basic mobile check: readable text, working menu, no horizontal scrolling.
- Be something you are happy for us to screenshot and link to, with a one-line description.
We do not charge for a showcase listing and we do not accept payment to include a site. Listings are re-checked periodically and removed if the site goes offline or changes theme.
Submit your site
If your site runs one of our themes and meets the criteria above, send us the URL, the theme you are using and a sentence about the site through the contact form on this website. Tell us if you used a child theme or made notable customisations; those are often the most interesting examples for other users. We will reply to confirm whether it will be featured, and you can ask to be removed at any time.
