One Page

A one-page theme puts the whole site on a single scrolling page and turns the menu into anchor links. It works when you have a small, fixed amount to say — a freelancer, a product launch, an event, a small studio — and it fails when content grows and you start bolting on hidden pages. A good one-page theme makes the sections easy to fill and reorder from the Customizer, scrolls smoothly to each anchor, highlights the active menu item as you move, and still gives you normal WordPress templates for the blog and legal pages that inevitably turn up.

What to look for

• Section management: enable, disable and reorder homepage sections without touching code.
• Anchor menu with active-state highlighting and smooth scroll that respects reduced-motion settings.
• Sticky header that shrinks on scroll so navigation stays reachable on long pages.
• Standard inner templates for blog posts, privacy pages and a 404 — one-page sites still need them.
• Lightweight scripts: parallax and counters are common in this category and are the first thing to cut for performance.
• Section-level backgrounds and spacing controls so the page has visual rhythm without a page builder.

Free vs Pro
