Choosing plugins is hard because there are so many and most describe themselves the same way. Start from what you need rather than from a feature list or a low price. A beginner promoting other people’s products needs link management and click tracking; a store owner recruiting affiliates needs referral tracking and payouts. Those are different plugins.
Whichever category you are in, check the following before buying:
- Ease of use for you and, if you run a programme, for your affiliates. A confusing dashboard means links do not get placed.
- Click and conversion tracking, ideally with GA4 integration, so you can see which links and pages earn.
- Fast link insertion: shortcodes, a block, or keyword auto-linking so you are not pasting long URLs by hand.
- Central link management: change a destination URL once and every post updates.

2. Pretty Links
Pretty Links is the most widely used link manager for WordPress. It turns long affiliate URLs into short branded ones on your own domain, redirects them server-side (301, 302 or 307), and records every click with referrer, device and location in its own reports.
The Pro version adds keyword auto-linking (type a product name and the plugin links it everywhere), link groups, expiring links, split testing between destinations, and a Pretty Bar that frames the destination page with your branding. It works with any theme. The free version handles basic redirects and click counts, which is enough for a small site; the annual licence unlocks the automation.
3. Thirsty Affiliates
ThirstyAffiliates is Pretty Links’ closest competitor and has been built specifically for affiliate links from the start. It cloaks links, organises them into categories, inserts them from a button in the editor and reports clicks with charts. Uncloaking is available per link for programmes such as Amazon that require the raw URL.
The Pro add-ons bring keyword auto-linking, geolocation redirects (send UK visitors to the UK store), Amazon API import, link health checks that warn when a destination breaks, GA4 event integration and CSV import/export. Since 2021 ThirstyAffiliates and Pretty Links have belonged to the same company, Caseproof, so the two are converging in features; choose on interface preference.
4. Affiliate Royale (now Easy Affiliate)
Affiliate Royale was renamed Easy Affiliate in 2021 and is the option in this list for the other side of the business: running your own affiliate programme. It comes from the same company as Pretty Links and MemberPress and integrates tightly with WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads and MemberPress, so commissions are recorded when a referred customer completes a purchase.
Setup is a wizard: define commission levels, upload banners and links for affiliates to use, and choose a payout method (PayPal one-click payouts are supported). Affiliates get their own dashboard with clicks, sales and earnings; you get fraud detection, performance reports and email notifications. Licensing is annual by number of sites. AffiliateWP and SliceWP are the main alternatives in this category and are worth comparing.
5. EasyAzon
EasyAzon was for years the go-to plugin for Amazon Associates: it let you search Amazon and insert text links, image links and buy buttons from inside the editor, localised links to the visitor’s country store, and handled link cloaking. It still exists, but updates have been infrequent and Amazon’s Product Advertising API terms have changed several times since it was built, so check the current version and last-update date carefully before relying on it.
For an actively maintained Amazon workflow in 2026, look at AAWP (product boxes, comparison tables and bestseller lists pulled live from the API, with geotargeting) or Lasso (display boxes for Amazon and any other merchant, plus link monitoring). Both require an approved Associates account with API access, which Amazon grants after your first qualifying sales. Amazon’s own SiteStripe toolbar remains the zero-cost way to create links by hand.
Whatever you install, remember that the affiliate market rewards trust. Recommend products you would suggest anyway and disclose that links earn you a commission, as consumer protection rules in most countries require.
